Dawn Wood

Dawn is a commercially endorsed yachtmaster and an accredited instructor in many maritime disciplines such as RYA navigation, vhf radio, RADAR, advanced powerboat and yachtmaster to name just a few. She has worked commercially on the water for 20 years as a police boat skipper and marine tactical advisor so is no stranger to working in extreme maritime environments. 

Dawn first became involved in coastal rowing in 2014 when her home town of Burnham on Crouch set up a rowing club. Dawn then went on to Row the Atlantic Ocean solo in 2019, the Atlantic again in 2021 as co skipper of a 12 person rowing expedition, and several pairs expeditions round the U.K coastline covering hundreds of miles. 

Since getting involved in ocean rowing Dawn has helped numerous teams cross oceans by providing training, courses, coaching and weather routing.

We’re excited to have Dawn as our weather router for the race – her experience and skills are invaluable in helping us ensure we have a safe and efficient crossing of the Atlantic.
